When Lieren was two, her eldest brother Collic – then fifteen years old – drowned in the canals of Stormwind, and whether it was by accident or as an act of suicide they never knew. Soon after, her mother became involved in a tavern brawl in which she, as well as two of her sons, was killed. After that the family fell apart, and Lieren never saw any of her half-siblings again; except for Maric, who stayed to raise her.

The two joined a gang of street kids who roamed Stormwind and the outlying forest, thieving and pickpocketing in order to survive. Under their guidance Lieren became skilled in the use of knives and in the skill of picking pockets and robbing empty houses. Lieren’s earliest happy memory is of being taken to the Darkmoon Faire by Maric and the gang, when she was five and he was eight-and-a-half. Somewhere along the way Lieren got hold of a mug of Darkmoon Special Reserve, and the next thing she remembers is waking with a pounding headache back in Stormwind.

Somewhere along the way Lieren got hold of a mug of Darkmoon Special Reserve, and the next thing she remembers is waking with a pounding headache back in Stormwind. Regardless, from then on she harboured a love of alcohol, which made for some interesting, if dangerous, attempts at theft while drunk.

She earned the nickname 'Flower' when the street kids robbed an old herbalist living in the hills outside Stormwind. Once back in the city they pooled their loot, which contained no more than a few coppers and a bunch of useless flowers. Lieren, suddenly and instinctively, knew exactly what each flower did and how they could be mixed together to create potions and draughts.
There was a hut in the hills where a woman lived, and it was rumoured that she was a witch, or some such thing. So, logically, she would have some kind of magical trinket that would, at the very least, be worth something. So half the gang, Maric and Lieren among them, left Stormwind at dusk one night and made their way up to the house. They sent Maric in to filch whatever goods there were inside, but they had not counted on the woman’s superior hearing. She awoke, and though the gang did not see it, put Maric to sleep somehow and threw him out of the house – they assumed through the use of a spell.

But eventually she tired of life in the city, and left Stormwind in the company of her brother Maric to attempt to reunite their family. While in the way to Goldshire the two simply disappeared. No-one saw it happen, and nobody really cared. Their street gang missed them for a while, but time passed and they were forgotten.
That didn’t stop the children. The failure of one of their number refused to damper their spirits – rather, it bolstered them, convincing them that the woman was most certainly a witch with special abilities. They attacked together, running in and knocking the woman to the ground, then grabbing whatever they could find and charging back out again, the leader of the gang carrying Maric on his shoulders.

Years later the girl returned to Stormwind, now in her late teens and solely known as 'Deathflower', a lengthening of her childish nickname. She did not attempt to make contact with the street urchins that had been her friends, but instead sought out the mysterious Shadow Hall. The Hall harboured the more unsavoury types - pirates, rogues such as herself - but also scholars and orphans. Deathflower thought she fitted more than one of those categories. She said as much to one of those in charge of the Hall and became a member. The Shadow Hall has become, to her, somewhat of a replacement for her shattered family, reminiscent of the street gang she had joined when she was three years old.
Once back in Stormwind, they pooled their loot, but were disappointed to find that the cloth bags they had stolen contained nothing more than a few useless flowers. It was then that Lieren pulled a petal off one of them and held them to Maric’s nose, wakening him instantly.

They called her ‘Flower’ after that.

Deathflower really is a rogue with an uncanny knack for herbalism and alchemy, and she really is a member of [[The Shadow Hall]]. She is in a roleplaying mode almost all of the time, so feel free to approach for an in-character chat. A word of warning - she's also often drunk and doesn't look fondly upon strangers. Watch your step around her.

Oh, and if her past looks a bit vague to you... something did happen in her life between the ages of nine and nineteen. It's just not common knowledge. ; )

Character Biography

The youngest of ten children, Lieren was far from spoiled. Her upbringing in the slums of Stormwind, born as she was into poverty, was dysfunctional, to say the least. Her mother Myris worked as a barmaid and each of her children, six boys and four girls, were fathered by a different man.
